Grain Free Fish and Chips

If you miss having fish and chips in your grain free life, you are going to love this recipe! Made with cassava flour, this grain free fish and chips recipe is golden brown and delicious!

Ingredients

24 ounces coconut oil , for frying 
2 russet potatoes, peeled and sliced into “French fries” 
1 lb pollock or cod from Wild Alaska Fish cut into bite size pieces (Use code TRAILTOHEALTH for $15 off)
1 cup (140 g) Ottos Cassava Flour 
1 tablespoon garlic powder 
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 teaspoon sea salt 
¼ teaspoon baking soda 
1 large egg 
½ cup (120 mL) sparkling water 


Directions

1. Over medium heat, heat the oil in a stovetop deep fryer

2. Start by frying the French fries (about 4-5 minutes). When cooked, remove and set aside on a paper-lined plate. Cover the plate so they don’t cool too much.

3. Blot the fish until its dry and set aside. 

2. In a stand mixer or large bowl, combine the cassava flour, garlic, onion, salt, and baking soda and stir together. 

3. Mix in the egg and sparkling water until fully combined. 

4. Dip each piece of fish into the batter and fully coat and then place into the fryer, being careful to not overfill or they will stick. 

5. Fry until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes) and place on a plate with a paper towel to dry. 

6. Serve with Tartar Sauce
